Welcome to the Body of Art project. I make feminist fine art highlighting the spiritual experience of the female body and nature. Work in this series is created by applying paint directly to my body and pressing against the canvas. I then use brushwork and my fingers to coax the piece into its final form, seeking to capture the complexity and beauty of my emotional landscape.
I began creating works of art with my body as a response to the current political climate of control against women’s rights. My journey as an artist is as much about reclaiming the divine feminine and sacred nature within my own body as it is about protesting the cultural shame and misogyny directed at women in the present day.
