Welcome to my weekly series of art prompts! If you follow me over on TikTok or Pinterest, you know that every week I post 5 art prompts to use in your sketchbook or art journal. During the week I share my process working with the prompts. I hope you will create along with me and add your art in the comments on TikTok so we can cheer each other on.
Here are this week’s prompts, which are inspired by summer!
Summer Storms Art Prompt
Create a page that evokes the turbulence and emotion during a summer storm. It can be abstract or illustrative.
Inspired by Shadows on a Summer Day
Trace some interesting shadows and color the shapes with mixed media to create an abstract piece.
Art Prompt for Firefly Sparks
Draw a scene from memory of a favorite summer evening. Let your thoughts spark like fireflies and add stream of consciousness writing or words to your page.
The Way Summer Feels
Use children’s modeling clay to create texture stamps of found items that represent summer to you. Smoosh up the clay and reuse it for different stamps. Fill a page with different patterns and use them as a background or cut them out for a collage.
Summer Sounds Art Prompt
Illustrate all of the sounds you hear during the course of a summer day. Or, you can illustrate a sound that represents summer for you!
Most of these simple art prompts can be completed in fifteen to twenty minutes if you work in a small sketchbook or journal. The fun thing about working with prompts like this is exploring new techniques and ideas – so don’t be afraid to try new styles and mediums. You never know when you will discover something that you love!
